David “Gunny” Gunderson

David “Gunny” Gunderson joined the Viega team in 2018 as a Sr. Technical Trainer at our Colorado seminar center. Gunny started in the trades in 1978 when he first learned how to solder, braze, weld, and thread piping systems from his grandfather. Dave served in the Army from 1985-1992 as an Airborne Combat Heavy Engineer with a secondary MOS of Unit Armorer. He is a combat veteran of Desert Storm and served for the country at the front lines for 2 years.  Upon returning from Desert Storm, Gunny continued his career in Plumbing & Mechanical systems, working 20 years with RK Mechanical. He held positions of Foreman, Superintendent, Fab Superintendent, Quality Management, and Training Superintendent.  Gunny is a Colorado Master Plumber and certified Med Gas installer, as well as a certified trainer.  His areas of expertise include plumbing and mechanical systems, underground and site work, excavation, project management, and site development.  Gunny is passionate about quality, professionalism, and continuing education. When he is not helping our customers succeed, he can be found spending time with his family, boating, hunting, and shuttling his daughter to school on two wheels of his Harley Tri-Glide.
