3. Analysis tool
Some of the data captured when you visit this website is harnessed for statistical evaluation. The scope of the data is described in the following. The data is forwarded to our statistics service provider only, Webtrekk GmbH.
Viega uses the services of the Webtrekk GmbH company to capture statistical data about the use of our Internet offering and to optimize our offering accordingly. Webtrekk GmbH is certified by TÜV Saarland for data protection in the field of web controlling software. A part of the certification is an audit on site at Webtrekk in Berlin and in the hosting location, where the capturing and processing of tracking data is verified in terms of data protection conformity and data security.
The foundations of this certification were:
- the ‘Data Protection - V1.3’ catalogue of requirements,
- the statutory requirements on data protection,
- the principles of IT security in a state-of-the-art manner based on IT basic protection according to BSI as well as ISO 27000,
- the TR00969 test report.
As part of your visit to the website, some information is captured, transmitted by your browser and evaluated for our web auditing. The capturing takes place by way of a pixel integrated into every Internet page. The following data is captured:
- Request (file name of the requested file)
- Browser type/version (e.g.: Internet Explorer 6.0)
- Browser language (e.g.: German)
- Operating system in use (e.g.: Windows XP)
- Browser window’s internal resolution
- Screen resolution
- JavaScript activation
- Java On/Off
- Cookies On/Off
- Color depth
- Referrer URL (the previously visited Internet page)
- IP address – is anonymized immediately and deleted again after processing
- Time of the visit
- Clicks
The IP address is transmitted as part of each server query to enable the server to know where to send the answer. The IP address is received by anyone connecting to the Internet from an Internet Service Provider (ISP), and the ISP can trace which IP address was assigned to which of its customers at which time. As soon as the IP address is saved, the identity of the subscriber can be obtained in theory via the ISP. Our statistics service provider and we save the IP address therefore only in a shortened (anonymous) form and use it only to recognize the session, for geolocalization (down to the town/city level) and to avert attacks. The IP address is then deleted again immediately, meaning that the captured data is then anonymous, and the identity of the user can no longer be obtained even via the ISP.
