Viega Valves Handle Colors and What They Mean

January 18, 2024 | Viega

Why Viega Valves?

Designed to withstand the toughest conditions and deliver a secure connection across systems, Viega Valves offer the durability and efficiency you need. With a lineup of valves engineered for multiple applications, choosing the right valve for the job is important. That’s why every Viega Valve comes with an easily identifiable color-coded valve handle. Let’s break down what to look for to ensure you get the right valve for the job.

Can Only White Valve Handles be Used for Potable Water?

The short answer is no. White handles are not the only option for potable water. When it comes to valves, each handle color signifies a different application. Viega offers four color-coded valves that correspond to a ProPress or MegaPress system. Our systems use Green, Red, Yellow and Gray handles to communicate different system compatibility. Find out below which one is right for your next job.

What Color Valve Handles Do I Need?

Green Viega Valve handles signify compatibility with ProPress potable water applications, and red handles are used for ProPress non-potable water. Yellow valve handles are for use with MegaPressG, while gray handles are for standard MegaPress.

Which Tool Do I Need to Install Viega Valves?

All Viega Valves are compatible with any standard hydraulic press tool. Equipped with Smart Connect technology, Viega MegaPress and ProPress valves allow you to pressure test immediately. So, you get instant peace of mind for a job well done.
